patois fire

Patois damaged by huge overnight fire on Dundas West

If you're looking to check out Patois this long weekend, you'll have to make alternate plans. That's because while damage to the restaurant is minimal, it'll be closed for a bit after 5-alarm fire broke out on Dundas Street West last night.

According to the Toronto Star, the fire started in the basement 792 Dundas St. W. (inside Monarch Art & Frame) at around 11:30 p.m. By 2 a.m. it was a 5-alarm blaze and eventually more than 100 firefighters came to the scene.

The fire was under control by 4:20 a.m., but it left two firefighters injured and damaged multiple buildings, including Patois. There's no word yet on when the restaurant will reopen.
