Spacing's TTC Animated GIF Challenge

If you're skilled with graphics and have some spare time on your hands today, have a look at this fun challenge posted to the Spacing Wire.

The map above represents part of an animated chronological history of the development and growth of the New York city subway system. While Toronto's network isn't nearly as vast and intricate as New York's, it would be pretty cool to see the same concept applied to our beloved/hated red rocket.

I'm looking forward to seeing what people come up with. If I had that spare time, I'd be all over this. Tweening the year (analog flip clock-style) as the pieces of the map were added would look awesome.
