Morning Brew: April 6th, 2007

Your morning news roundup for Friday April 6th, 2007:

A seven year old discovered that the new couch that was delivered to her home was "nigger-brown" in colour after she found this detail on a label. The furniture shop claims no responsibility and has shifted the blame for the foul to the foreign supplier, in China.

20 carpenters are getting a cool million each, after their lottery pool produced one of two jackpot tickets in the massive Lotto 6/49 draw. The other winning ticket hasn't yet been claimed.

Pickpockets are causing problems for shoppers in Bloor West Village. Keep your eyes on your personal belongings, folks.

More than 700,000 ecstasy tablets, a whopping 49 kilograms of cocaine, cash and weapons, and an airplane were seized in a significant bust by police north of Toronto.

Close to home for me... an 18-year old student at the adult-oriented learning center Burnhamthorpe Collegiate Institute in Etobicoke was shot dead yesterday. This is the second shooting in the area in 6 months, and police are attempting to find out if they're related.
