CONTACT 2008 Opening

And That's a Wrap - CONTACT Ends, Announces 2009 Theme

The 2008 CONTACT Photography Festival wrapped up last night with a few speeches and thank-you's at The Drake. While it's still possible to check out many of the great exhibits and installations that made this year one of the best yet, organizers including Executive Director Darcy Killeen took the opportunity last night to look forward to 2009.

The theme for next year was announced and it is Still Revolution. (Not sure If I'm missing any punctuation). While there's obviously a tip of the hat here to the context that photography itself has undergone (or is still undergoing) a digital revolution, expect this theme to unleash a wide variety of thought provoking and challenging photos that touch on human rights, political unrest, globalization and other big issues of our time.

For now, looking back, here's a slideshow of images taken during this year's CONTACT, as submitted to the festival's official Flickr Group.
