Theatre Picks : Feb 1 - 8
Toronto has a great deal of theatre in it that comes in many different flavours and colours. Many of the professional shows have already been mentioned over the last two weeks. Here are a few that are from the other side of the tracks (that is the non commercial, independent and community theatre worlds).
A Dream Play: The University of Toronto's College Drama Program is one of the finest in the country. Here are some final year students who some of which will no doubt be gracing the professional stages in the years to come. Strindberg's piece about humanity and its behaviour is a strong testament to the times. Runs to Feb 10.
Lady Windermere's Fan : Alumnae Theatre's production of Oscar Wilde's 1892 is an exciting and funny show that is sure to please the bourgeoisie in all of us. Until Feb 3 at Alumnae Theatre
The Who's Tommy: Want to save the $150.00 it would cost to see this at a Mirvish machine? Theatre Scarborough would love to save you the bucks and wow you with the glitz and glam of Pete Townshend's rock opera that is a study in celebrity worship and its perks and quirks. To Feb 17.
