BMO Flield

Renovated BMO Field unveiled for TFC home opener

Toronto FC kicks off its season tomorrow at the freshly completed BMO Field, which has undergone a three stage renovation that added 8,400 seats and a canopy roof to protect the majority of fans from the rain. The $150 million project was also designed to accommodate the Toronto Argonauts, who will start play there on June 23.

Phase one of the project, which saw the additional seating installed, was completed a year ago for the 2015 season. Now the canopy roof will protect all but 2,000 seats from the rain, which has put a damper on TFC games in the past. There's still work to be done on the Argos dressing room and a training facility, but from a fan standpoint, the major work is done.

A variety of other improvements have been put in place over the course of the renovation process, including a new video screen, updated washrooms, and the addition of a fan party zone for TFC games that can accommodate 750 on a standing room only basis. Have a look at the video below for a sense of what the stadium looks like now.
