Go play in a park

Posted by Staff / June 9, 2005

rJune09Park.jpgIt seems that since warm and beautiful weather hit this city I've discovered a new park each day. Toronto has many parks and gardens waiting for us to occupy them; and the city has made it easy to find a park near you.

Parks, for me at least, are a great place just to sit and relax and enjoy life. Even the smallest park can bring a feeling of comfort - a breath of fresh air - from the towers that reach ever-skyward. Parks are also a place to meet other people at random from perhaps a stray frisbee landing at your feet to noticing that someone is reading the same book as you. In my dream world all those parking lots in the downtown core will each be made a lot for a park.

My favorite park in the city (for walking, biking, or sitting and reading) is the Moore Park ravine ( http://www.city.toronto.on.ca/parks/parks_gardens/mooreravine2.htm ).

It connects the Don Valley brickworks in the south to Mount Pleasant Cemetery in the north, and looks like this from way, way up: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=toronto&;ll=43.690063,-79.371408&spn=0.014656,0.017831&t=k&hl=en
