Not just an oyster house, Pure Spirits serves up fish, pork, duck, steak frites and other tasty modern fare.

We've had two quite delicious meals here, and a third (the most recent) that was so-so. Perhaps the chef had an off night (Aug 4/09) but nothing we selected -- from the lobster bisque through the appetizers (muscles in lager and lime, scallops) through the pepper-crusted ahi tuna, horseradish/trout -- were anything to write home about. The restaurant was quiet, even for a Tuesday. Staff was attentive. We've never had an issue with the staff, and some have been downright superb. It's unfortunate we had this experience, because we had come to love this restaurant and its location.

Had a similar experience as above. Two good visits, and a third that failed in both the quality and service department. Too bad that I won't be returning. It was a promising start.

My first visit was great! My second visit, I really didn't like the tuna tar tar. The oysters are great. I will go back. I hope my third isn't like the others (I doubt it will be).
Great atmosphere, great location, and the food is pretty decent.

Just went here for my 60th birthday. Everything was superb. The staff couldn't have been more attentive, the food was delicious (my cornish hen was sublime) and the decor very attractive and cozy. Unlike Jay up above, we will definitely return. Overall a wonderful experience.

Got turned off before even getting there... tried to make a reservation and explained coming from out of town so wanted to ensure we'd be able to eat. Was told it was policy not to take any more reservations for the evening but they would have room. How daft can you get turning away business!

Love the food at the Boiler house - always excellent. We'e eaten here regularly since it opened. The servers are great, but often the food is extremely slow getting to us. It's always at a good temperature so I assume the problem is in the kitchen.

Overpriced... Pile of grass with no dressing for 25$ not returning.

Went here for the first time and it will probably be the last. The best word I could use for our experience was flat. The service was average at best and we didn't order past the appetizers. We started with Oysters (which we were excited about) and our server didn't even know what was available. I thought this was an Oyster Bar?? Once we got to the salad and Tuna Tartar...we were done. We weren't about to keep ordering. The manager was kind enough to take off the salad and welcome us back so she could treat us to Oysters. Still up in the air as to whether or not we will take up her offer.
