Lim Ga Ne (North York)
Lim Ga Ne is a quaint and cozy restaurant that features authentic low tables for cross-legged dining (the downtown location at least) and a simple but traditional menu. The ban chan is particularly generous here as is its reputation for Soon Dae Gook (a blood sausage made of pork or cow intestines). In other words, come for the guts but stay for all the freebies.

What these guys also do exceptionally well - and I mean EXCEPTIONAL - are the following:
1) Kam Poong Ki or Kam Poong Gi
- battered and deep fried chicken morsels which are then stir fried in a slightly sweet and spicy sauce. I have yet to take a friend here who didn't like this. My Italian coworker and my Pakistani coworker both thought this dish was the best deep fried chicken they have ever had.
2) Jae Yook Bokeum
- pork belly and kimchi stir fry. Depending on who makes it and how it's done, this dish is either a 8.5/10 or a 10/10. So it'll either be good or spectacular. I've noticed the quality depends on the day/time. They do this classic dish so well here, even the hardcore Koreans from Korea love this dish here.
3) Mo Deum Soon Dae
- this dish is the holy trinity of: blood sausage, boiled liver and pig ears. Yup, pretty damn hardcore...even if you are Korean. I know Koreans who don't/won't eat this. Everyone is fine with the blood sausage, but liver loses half its audience, then the pig ears...well, there goes the room. However, what I do is ask them to bring out "only blood sausage and liver". This dish is an all time favourite of mine. My friend's and I go there and order a plate of this, and one of the other two listed above with some drinks and we are good for the night.
I've tried practically everything on the menu so if you want some tips/reviews/advice, just comment here and I'll get back to you.
