Bistro on Avenue

Rating: 2.3/5 (18 votes)

Bistro on AvenueBistro on Avenue kicked off the St. Louis franchise and retains that original and local charm. Regulars line the bar or dart in and out for take-out. The waitresses know first names, and the owner/founder and Chef, Louis Nemes, hangs around talking to customers. Simply, the same great wings as the downtown St. Louis, but a way better atmosphere to eat them in.

Oh the Bistro! Only a short walk from my house -- my partner and I are regulars. Their specials are on Mondays and Tuesdays and they let you have more wings if you don't want fries. Love love love the Bistro. You know its good when they city's firefighters and law enforcement are regulars -- both for eat-in and take out.

I used to work just a few doors down from the Bistro. It's the only thing I miss about my old job. Now there is a St. Louis franchise close to my house. The atmosphere is not even close to the same but the yummy wings with the best dipping sauce ever remind me of the Bistro every time.

Their dill sauce rules almost as much as the wings do. Louis is great, but doesn't spend a lot of time in the kitchen. The place's best kept secret is Craig, who masterfully prepares the wings. Rumor has it, last Superbowl he conjured up 2 delicious tons of them, all by himself.

Heather is the best bartender in town!! There is nothing better than hitting the 'stro after work for a nice cold one. the wings are second to none!! Long live the godfather of chicken wings, Louis.

I like the chicken wings. Sometimes they are too spicey for me and I need a glass of warm milk to calm me down.

I believe the titles of the reviews on this site should be "The best places to eat <insert food time here> in Toronto". If you are going to include details on the decor of an establishment, or the fact that the chef talks to the customers in your review you really aren't talking about just the food. Bistro and all the St.Louis locations out there pretty much serve the same variation of the chicken wing. If you are going to include them both in the top ten, why not include both Duff's locations?

Great wings but service sucked - our waitress, stacy, was rude and seemed almost inconvenienced to be serving us... very disappointing... and she's apparently one of the most experienced on staff... JT

When I first walked into this place I wanted to walk out. The place looks like a dive. Old and tacky!! I heard the wings here were good, so I tried them, and man was I disappointed, I had to send them back cause the first wing I bit into was not fully cooked and the service sucked. I will not be going back again!!
