Ad agency GJP announces fire sale on YouTube

Posted by Derek Flack / November 12, 2010

Toronto advertising agency Gee, Jeffery & Partners is closing shop. Well, sort of. In a move that's a lot like advertising for advertising, company chairmen Alan Gee has taken to YouTube to announce that GJP is having a "closing down liquidation fire sale." Among the items on offer are rulers, phones, cookie platters and other executives.

Inspired by Russel Oliver's jewelry and loan ads, no doubt, the whole thing is actually pretty humorous. And, lest anyone actually thing that one of Canada's biggest ad agencies is calling it quits, all the proceeds from the sale -- which is real -- will go to benefit Jake's House for Children with Autism.

Now the question is, how does this stand up against the work of Don Draper?

They're either

1) moving offices

2) Relaunching and adding new creative director Andrew Simon's name to the door

This is just a fun way to get rid of junk and raise some money for charity.

This guy sounds like that doofus who wants to buy our old gold, or idiot Mel Lastman being bad Boy. Subtle as a hit on the head with a hammer. Hey, maybe he was being ironic. So what ads of his do we need to know about?
