Virgin Festival Lineup Announced

Today, Virgin Mobile announced a tentative lineup for the third annual Virgin Festival, scheduled to be held over the weekend of September 6 and 7 at Toronto Island Park.
So far, only 10 bands have been announced, including Foo Fighters, Oasis, ex-Jam singer Paul Weller, the Constantines and the Weakerthans. In past years, the festival has offered dozens of acts performing on multiple stages, so expect many more bands to be added to this list some time after all the tickets have sold out.
The cost to attend both days will be $159, with tickets for single days going for $87. But have no fear, your ferry ride is included.
Tickets go on sale this Saturday and are guaranteed to go fast. For more details, visit http://www.virginfestival.ca/toronto/.

Add Broken Social Scene. Metric. Spiral Beach. Arcade Fire. New Pornos. Tokyo Police Club. Now!
Not to mention Alexisonfire, Thee Evaporators, Apostle of Hustle, The Bicycles, Caribou, The Golden Dogs, Gogol Bordello, Malajube, The National, Tally Hall, Justice, Daft Punk, Flaming Lips and The Go! Team.
Reunions for Death From Above 1979 and Moxy Fruvous, A Lazer Floyd show, and an extended curfew for the island.
I'll see everyone in the high-security beer tent, between the cell-phone vendor and the MasterCard booth.
Foo Fighters? Oasis? Could someone at BlogTO please update the link, it seems to be from the mid 1990s....
I'm in the "ew" crowd. V Fest Toronto has yet to provide anything too interesting.
No more drab past-their-prime 90s bands (Pumpkins, Foos, Bjork, Oasis, etc).
No more flash-in-the-pan acts like Gnarls Barkley or Raconteurs.
No more selling local/Canadian acts as main-stage draws (Metric, Sam Roberts, Alexisonfire). These bands play here enough and in better venues that it doesn't matter.
They need a more diverse lineup and headliners that aren't so bland.
I think semi-retro headlining acts are the theme for the summer festival season. Would it help to know there are less relevant lineups out there, like a reunited Stone Temple Pilots headlining EdgeFest?
After watching the Foos perform on Saturday, I can safely say that they are still very much in their prime.
Last year's lineup was alright, and say what you will but getting Smashing Pumpkins on their first tour in almost a decade was awesome, and having The Killers and Bjork as well in thee same weekend was the definition of "neat-o". This year though? They're gonna have to get some bigger names than that to justify the price they'll be asking for.
If they do get better bands, they'll then need to find a better city to play in, because Toronto crowds are the most boring and drab piles of poop I've ever had the displeasure of standing with.
I have to agree with Ryan. The Foo Fighters show Saturday night was one of the best concerts I've been to. Those guys can really wail.
The lineup is nothing compared to last year.. espesially the headliners man. Foos and Oasis have NOTHING on SP and Bjork.. nooo way I would spend another $250 to wait in lines half the day. just not worth it to me unless there's some killer music.
Lets make this event as big as it is in Britain
Get Faithless in there; best trance band in the world...after all Virgin Fest originated in Britain; by adding mediocre Canadian bands to the main-event makes it lose its appeal.....
Bands like My Chemical Romance should not be headlining; stick in R.E.M. or Radiohead.....
Good Canadian bands like Metric, Sam Roberts Band et al should also be in there....but below the headliners.....
Personally, I can't wait...Paul Weller is an f'ing legend

Line up looks sweet. I'll be there.
The Bacardi B-live tent announced their headliners for the weekend too...Moby, Deadmau5, Switch, Lee Burridge, SebastiAn, Flosstradamus. House, electro, hiphop beats...So sick!
Free too if you have V-fest tix already.
