El Perro Del Mar Preview

Swedish angel Sarah Assbring, better known as El Perro Del Mar, played a free acoustic set at Soundscapes this evening in preparation for her show at the MOD Club tomorrow night. This was my first time seeing her play live, and I have to say, she is definitely one of those artists who's live performance completely eclipses the album recordings (though the album still is amazingly beautiful).

Tonight, it was just her and an acoustic guitar. She played 5 songs of her latest album, each more haunting and heartbreaking than the last. After the set, I was tempted to ask her whether tomorrow night's show would be just her and her guitar once again, but I held back. Half of me just wants to be surprised, and the other half was just far too awstruck to put words together.

Apparently Soundscapes still has some tickets for sale for the show. After tonight's short preview, I'd definitely recommend trying to get your hands on them.
