A winner of the Matthew Barber competition (see here) has been drawn. And the winner is (cue drum roll)...Rob Shostak. A hearty congratulations to you, a copy of Matthew's album is on its way. The rest of you have promotional CDs coming your way as well. Enjoy.

Incidentally, you were all rubbish at listing the best 3 concerts you saw in Toronto this year. The one solitary person who actually did, listed 3 concerts, but these all took place in chuffing Hamilton. For reference (and since this was the only response I got) these were:

Great Lake Swimmers w/ Final Fantasy at The Casbah
Silver Mt Zion at The Casbah
The Rest w/ Cuff at The Duke

For what it's worth, my choices are:

Caribou & Four Tet at Toronto Opera House
Medeski Martin and Wood at Nathan Philips Square (as part of the Toronto International Jazz Festival)
Holy Fuck at The Mod Club

Just for the record, the three best shows I saw this year were:

Keane @ Massey Hall in May

Hawksley Workman @ The Rivoli in April
(secret shows in which he previewed potential tunes for his next album)

And a toss up between U2 in September and Depeche Mode in December (both at the ACC) would round out the list.

I can't really list the best local indie acts I've seen this year ... there were many, many good ones (for the first time in a long time)!
