Jane Corkin's eponymous gallery is one of the more impressive in the city. The gallery is divided into five exhibition spaces and showcases well known international contemporary artists. The photo above includes works by David Urban and Irving Penn.

As an emerging Canadian Artist do I need to leave the country and exhibit before a gallery like this (really cool!) will show my work?

If an artist is looking for a dealer or commercial gallery to represent him and show his work, would there be any feedback if a disc with selections of his recent body of work was to be sent or would there be no comment? It helps if an artist knows where he stands and what galleries are looking for in types of work.I also helps if they at least acknowledge the receipt of a submission.

It would be nice to get feedback from gallery owners, but it's not likely to happen because they get many, many applications (hundreds) each year. They would need to hire someone just to plough through all of those applications.

Artists need to start finding alternative ways to show and sell their works and STOP relying on galleries. Eventually, maybe even in our lifetime, the tables will turn and artists will be the ones ignoring inquiries from gallery owners who are desperate to find artists for their galleries.
