Misfit Yoga Studio TorontoMisfit Yoga Studio's owner Amber is an atypical yoga instructor, but I might have guessed that from the studio's name. She's brazen, kind of glamourous, and in a way a bit of a misfit herself. The best people are, really. In her new Parkdale studio - a revamped ex-tattoo shop - the vibe is intimate and not-so-serious. It's my kind of yoga. I attended a noon yoga/pilates fusion class that had just one other participant. But rather than being awkward, it was fun, chatty and set to a soundtrack of Prince and Fleetwood Mac.

I had the pleasure of private group classes with Amber for over a year at one of my old places of work. It was my first real attempt at yoga and pilates so I was pretty intimidated by the idea. The truth is that I didn't think I was going to get much of a workout and was more afraid of hurting myself since I'm such a klutz. Amber took the time to make sure my positions were correct and was extra careful with those of us with previous injuries. I loved that she actually did the stretches and positions along with us so that we could see what the perfect form looked like. She kept up with every step and motivated us like no one I've seen before.

I've been practising yoga/pilates fusion with Amber weekly for almost 2 years now. She makes you feel beautiful even when you are awkward and struggling in a pose. I find myself laughing, pushing myself to try harder and embracing new ideas through Amber's guidance and authentic personality. If you want the best, go to Amber! Namaste Amber.

Amber J has spoiled me for all other yoga classes. She is inspiring and motivating and her classes kick your butt physically and give your grey matter a serious work out too with her words. Her studio is gorgeous and cozy and a pleasure to be in.

Amber is the queen of keeping classes so fun and casual that its easy to forget how hard she's pushing you in her always inventive and challenging fusion classes. Her unique brand of fusion, an eclectic mix of yoga, pilates and even dance-inspired moves is a must-try for anyone regardless of experience level. I wouldn't start my Saturday mornings any other way!

It's a joy just to walk into Amber's studio, and everyone who does knows they're in the right place and the right hands. Amber is the douala of yoga practice.

Beautiful Amber is my great niece and I love her to pieces! She has the most inspiring attitude about everything. I know if she opened a studio here in Los Angeles, every star would sign up to be part of it. It's no surprise that her Toronto studio is such a success and people love and admire her so much. Go for it Amber!

Watch out world, Amber is a treasure and the word is getting out! I have know her forever and have always admired her creativity and enthusiasm! She is a talented & successful artist & OCAD grad, and a trained dancer.... and most of all a fabulous yoga & pilates instructor. A very inviting studio, great music, & an instantly welcoming, non-threatening vibe -- she exudes positivity & personal attention!! Plus she's a gorgeous gal!! Rock on Amber, tone up Toronto!!

Amber is not only a glamorously rockified Yoga/Pilates instructor, but an amazingly strong and positive woman, friend, teacher and someone who'll always be there...I feel blessed to have her in my life. Amber kicks ass (literally) and makes legs, arms and stomachs burn in the best way possible!!!! Way to go Misfit.

My wife does semi-private classes with Amber and I popped in a couple times just to see what it was all about. I thought I knew abs with my old-school gym routine - but she showed me a ton of new tricks... I've been missing out!

I'm so glad that BlogTO recognized Amber's MISFIT studio. Amber is the queen of yoga and pilates, and she deserves all of the praise. She pushes, motivates, and inspires (I dare you to find an instructor who is more fit than Amber is). The Toronto yoga/pilates scene has just gotten a whole lot better!

It all began with an early morning class for friends and staff at Shopgirls. Less than 2 years later, Misfit Studio emerged. Amber's approach to health and fitness is refreshing AND fun! You hate her for pushing so hard but love her for the results! Misfit studio is such a great addition to Parkdale! Good on you Blog T.O. for recognizing yet another fantastic jewel in this fine city of ours!

Simply put, Amber is the best yoga & pilates teacher around. After a class with her you'll have had one of the best hours of your week because you feel so strong and alive. Plus you'll meet amazing people in her studio and have a blast while working out. What else could anyone ask for?! Thanks AJ!
