This Week in Fashion: Ruins anniversary bash, Get Fred Perry on the cheap, Raging Spoon swap madness, Sunny Fong sample sale

Tonight: Ruins celebrates one year anniversary with Laurie Kang exhibit opening
I must admit that I'm thrilled - and shocked - that Ruins, the Queen West diamond in the rough, has made it through its first year. Tonight, the folk behind the store invite one and all to a dual-purpose party celebrating the milestone and the newest work by artist Laurie Kang. From 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., 960 Queen St. W.

Warehouse sale alert: Oliver Spencer + Fred Perry + Dunderdon on deep discount
Starting tomorrow, head over to fashion agency Standard Apparel's way-too-rare warehouse sale. SA reps top brands like Oliver Spencer and Fred Perry, perfect for the neatly-packaged Brit in all of us. Discounts are advertised at up to 75 per cent on men's and women's clothing and accessories. Cash, credit, debit. Runs until November 19. 360 Dufferin Street, Suite 106 (1/2 block south of Queen Street, on the west side, with plenty of parking on Dufferin.)

Travis Taddeo hits UPC Boutique for a trunk show this weekend
While Montreal designer Travis Taddeo didn't exactly win the Mercedes-Benz Start-Up competition during the most recent installment of LGFW, it's still business as usual, proving only you can make it happen for yourself and that accolades, as they say, ain't nothing but a thing. The designer lands at Yorkville boutique UPC this Saturday to promote his latest offering — and to do a turn-and-pose for admirers. November 19, 128 ½ Cumberland St, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Swap stuff with strangers at The Raging Spoon this Saturday — and buy from them, too
The Raging Spoon, the Queen West café-slash-catering company, is throwing (what I can only imagine to be) one of their legendary everything-must-go swaps. Have a bunch of stuff to sell or trade? Head here. Look for everything from records to clothing to knick-knacks to a bunch of random items that will no-doubt be qualified as "vintage." But one person's trash is another person's treasure *mdash; that's my firm belief. Find out how to reserve a table or generally join in on the fun. November 19, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., 761 Queen St. W.

Other things on our radar:

Person: Lady Gaga stylist-turned-fashion designer Nicola Formichetti is landing at The Bay today for a supposedly hush-hush shindig that everyone's still talking about on Twitter.

Place: Pink Tartan designer Kimberley Newport-Mimran is holding a one-year anniversary "jam" tonight for her boutique Seventy Seven.

Thing: Tickets are still available for tonight's Fashion Group International style seminar. Remember: there's a chance to win a trip to the Cayman Islands.

Steal: Project Runway Canada winner Sunny Fong is holding a sample sale this Saturday of his VAWK collection. Find out more here.
