A few weeks ago one of the all time greats and Rock 'n Roll Icon, Tom Petty suddenly passed away. Tom Petty has been an incredible influence on so many musicians and his passing hit a lot of people very hard.

On Saturday December 16th, the Linsmore Tavern is celebrating the life and music of Tom Petty, by bringing in the very BEST Tom Petty Tribute Band, "We Ain't Petty" A Tribute to Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers!

"We Ain't Petty", features long time Sports TV Personality, Barry Davis who might not look like Tom Petty, but if you close your eyes you will surely think it's Tom Petty up on stage when he performs! Classic Rock fans, Tom Petty fans, this is a night you do not want to miss and an evening where you'll get a chance to pay your respect to Tom Petty and his amazing music!

Barry Davis (Lead Vocals/Rhythm Guitar)

While many would know Barry Davis best as a TV sports reporter, music has been a huge passion for him all his life. Barry began singing soon after he learned to talk, and it wasn't long before he was dancing around the house with a dog leash as a mic, singing along to his mothers Tom Jones records.

By 16, Barry was singing and playing bass in his first band and over the next 5 years he was gigging all over Ontario with his band Fusion. We Ain't Petty marks Barry's return to the stage for the first time in 25 years but he says it's like getting back on a bike.

He may not look much like Tom Petty but he sure sounds like him, and with 25 years of radio and TV experience, he always feels at home behind a microphone.

Ken O'Gorman (Lead guitar)

Born in Montreal, having moved to Toronto shortly thereafter, Ken has been working in and around the Ontario music scene professionally for over twenty years. An active guitarist (bass, mandolin, harmonica), producer, and engineer, Ken is as comfortable in acoustic folk, blues, or alternative country as he is in the progressive, classic rock and theatre realms.

His current recording and performance credits include House of Not (www.houseofnot.com), The David Henman Band, The River Junction Band (www.riverjunctionband.com), We Ain’t Petty, Hank Williams “LIVE” 1952, Glenn Reid (www.glennreid.ca), Silent C, and Jim Clarke's "Granny’s Apples".

Emilio Lamorte (Bass)

Emilio began playing music at the age of 13 and has never looked back. AC/DC’s ‘Thunderstruck’ is credited as the inspiration. When asked to share his story, Emilio says “I remember the exact moment, the day of the week, the time of day, the people who were there, the direction of the wind (lol), it was magic, it hit me like a bolt of lightening, ‘I am going to be a musician!’ It was a no-brainer”.

Emilio has gone on to study music with some of Canada’s premiere musicians, having attended both Mohawk College and York University for music. Having also played in various local bands (LAMORTE, CRAWL SPACE, TUXEDO STEW), and at some of the hot spots that the GTA has to offer, Emilio continues to rip it up and keeps his ‘chops’ sharp performing and jamming.

Emilio teaches high school music in Brampton and works with some of the brightest and most talented students that Brampton North-West has to offer.

Armin Leonard (Keyboards)

Born in Toronto, Armin has an ARCT in piano performance from the Royal Conservatory, University of Toronto, and a BFA from York University, having studied classical, jazz, ethnic, world, avant-garde and experimental music. He also has an MBA from the Schulich School of Business.

At age 17, he began his professional musical career, composing, recording and touring throughout Canada and US in various bands, such as Dreadnought, Another Roadside Attraction, Skye Blue, The Rock Island Rocket, and Cinema Face.

Matt McFarland (Drums)

Matt McFarland began playing drums at the age of 18. He felt that studying with great teachers would make up for any lost time. An extensive musical background in Piano and French Horn aided him in the theoretical study of the drums and teachers like Jeff Salem, Robin Boers and Arthur Hull more than helped in the study of the practical side.

By his 19th birthday he was playing the Toronto circuit with local bands which eventually led to touring Canada and into the US. While travelling Matt began to develop a desire to teach. At the age of 23 he was teaching under Jeff Salem and helping to write what would later become The Kit drum set curriculum, an educational system focusing on creating a step-by-step process for learning percussion.

Matt is also a member of Vic Firth’s PDT (Private Drum Teacher) program. This program focuses on creating universal teaching methods and educational material fueled by the educators on the roster.
