ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Gavin Crawford was born at the ripe old age of 0 in Taber, Alberta. After graduating from the BFA Acting Program at the University of British Columbia, Gavin moved to Toronto where he quickly took the comedy scene by storm. His unique style of performing character monologues in a standup setting got him noticed by Toronto’s famed Second City where he joined the cast in 1998 for two mainstage productions: Y2K: The Chip Hits the Fan and Nude Beachwear, 100% Off.

Over the years, Gavin has sustained his love for live performance with appearances at practically all of Canada’s established comedy festivals, including the Vancouver, Calgary, Winnipeg, St. John’s and Halifax comedy festivals, Just For Laughs, as well as the Aspen Comedy Festival. Gavin has also created several one-man shows with his longtime collaborator Kyle Tingley at his old haunt, Toronto’s Buddies In Bad Times Theatre. His home-away-from-home, Buddies has seen Gavin onstage in many productions, including starring roles in several plays by noted playwright Sky Gilbert, He was a fixture at Maggie Cassella’s We’re Funny That Way Gay and Lesbian Comedy Fest until its final year in 2012, and also performs frequently at Cassella’s Flying Beaver Pubaret.

Star of the Gavin Crawford Show and 8 seasons of This Hour Has 22 Minutes, Gavin won a Canadian Screen Award in 2014 for his wildly popular Gavin Crawford’s WILD WEST.

Sharron Matthews – In 2013, after touring her one woman shows around the world to critical acclaim, Sharron was named the first cabaret-artist-in residence in Canada at Buddies in Bad Times Theatre. In anticipation of her hit 2012 cabaret tour Sharron Matthews Superstar: GOLD, Sharron was named “Woman of the Year 2012” by the New Current, the largest online student magazine in the UK. GOLD travelled from Toronto, to Scotland, London to New York City and then on to Cape Town, South Africa, for their inaugural cabaret festival and Sharron sold out houses and received rave reviews on her biggest tour ever.

Her New York cabaret debut, Sharron Matthews Superstar: World Domination Tour 2010, was named “#1 Cabaret in New York City in 2010” by Andrew Martin of NiteLifeExchange and WPAT Radio. In 2009, Sharron was named “Best Cabaret Performer” by Toronto’s Now Magazine. Sharron ended 2013 back at her alma mater working on and premiering her latest show, Full Dark, which was workshopped at Buddies in Bad Times Theatre where she is the Cabaret-Artist-in Residence.

In 2014, Sharron’s performance calendar will see her traveling all across Canada and back to the UK. Sharron has been featured in the films Hairspray: The Movie, Cinderella Man and portrayed “Joan the Secretary” in Tina Fey’s iconic Mean Girls. On the small screen Sharron was one of the stars of the award winning hit show Canada Sings for two seasons.
