Shoestring Opera creates and performs age appropriate adaptations that introduce opera to children in a lively and entertaining way. With a soprano, baritone, cello, and piano, they use modern English to create engaging narratives that are accessible, relevant, and fun! The Schoolyard Carmen uses Bizet’s lively music and follows the story of a young girl named Carmen, a newcomer to this country. We see her adjusting to a new school in a new place. When the cool kid tries to bully her, she embraces her independent spirit and stands up to him.
