The REDress Project

Winnipeg based artist Jaime Black created The REDress Project as an aesthetic response to the over 1000 missing and murdered Aboriginal women in Canada.

The project seeks to collect donations of red dresses within a community to be installed in public spaces throughout Canada.

Myself, being a young Aboriginal female was very moved by this project. With the help of donations from local retailers, a close friend and I will be hosting the Toronto REDress Project this weekend.

What a perfect way to end your Nuit Blanche weekend by walking through Bellwoods and seeing our installment of red dresses. This installation will create so much awareness for not only the Aboriginal community but for Canada in general.
