The Hygiene Hypothesis - Is playing in the mud good for your health?

Is being too clean making us sick?

Graduate students from the University of Toronto will tackle this question and more as we explore the link between germs and disease. We will discuss how bacteria and parasites can "educate" our immune system, and how that may affect the incidence of allergies and autoimmune diseases in the developing vs. the developed world.

There are more bacteria than human cells in your body! We will talk about where they are and most importantly, how they contribute to keeping us healthy and fit.

No scientific knowledge is needed to attend this event--all are welcome!
