I was going through a bit of a broke patch last summer and had to swear off movie purchases. But I told myself, that there was ONE FILM that, if it showed up, I would just have to forego groceries and pick up.

That film has been acquired.

So, ladies and gentlemen, I am extremely thrilled to announce that this Friday - as a Valentine to you our loyal viewers - we will be presenting, in all its magnificence...

STARCRASH.

This 1978 flick, directed by sometime Dario Argento collaborator Luigi Cozzi, was in the very first wave of cheap Star Wars ripoffs, and it is probably the most entertaining of the lot.

The intrepid Stella Star legendary Bond girl Caroline Munro...

Joins forces with the world's MOST annoying robot played by Munro's husband, Judd Hamilton...

and the milquetoast Akton former celebrity evangelist Marjoe Gortner...

to save the Emperor of the Galaxy a deeply embarrassed and probably drunk Christopher Plummer...

and his prince ladies and gentlemen, DAVID HASSELHOFF...

from the evil clutches of Count Zarth Arn archetypal New Yawker Joe Spinell.

OH. MY. GOD.

And it's not just the greatest cast of all time - half of whom showed up a year later in MANIAC of all things - that sells this movie. The plot is outrageous and all over the place, and the special effects are ambitious and sometimes even good, especially the blatantly Harryhausen-inspired stop motion stuff. The dogfight effects, not so much. But there's some flashing light sequences that should match your Friday night mood quite nicely!

And as usual there will be shorts as well - this week on space/robot themes, of course!

So I've said it before, but...if you've been taking a Trash Palace vacation, you'd best plonk your five bucks down here, because it doesn't get any better than this. I'm serious.

Doors at 8:30, show at 9:30. Trash Palace is located at 89-B Niagara Street, and is festooned with a plethora of refreshments in liquid and solid form, mesmerizing decor, and door prizes at half time.
