SHAKESBEERS SHOWDOWN 2014

TORONTO, ONT- The battle over the bard begins April 25th with the annual Shakesbeers Showdown. Companies from all across Toronto will converge to meet and compete in an improvised performance over who can prove the best with the bard over a steady flow of beer, all for a good cause: providing creative programming for women’s shelters and drop-ins across the city.

The Challenge? Who can recite their lines their best and most accurately while under a barrage of jeers cheers and beers in front of our panel of judges. The winners are determined by who both says their lines the best while keep most of their beer in their cup.

This evening will feature such indie theatre stars as A.J. Richardson and Jessie Griffiths from Shakespeare-In-The-Ruff, Scott Emerson Moyle* and Melanie Hrymack from Urban Bard Productions, James Wallis* and Julia Nish-Lapidus from Shakespeare Bash’d, Steve Coombes and Sara Moyle from Humber River Shakespeare Company, Tom McGee and Megan Miles from Shakey-Shake and Friends, and Louisa Zhu and Clare Blackwood from Spur-Of-The-Moment Shakespeare Collective.

So come out and support both the theatre scene and women’s shelter programming while cheering on your favourite team on April 25th.
