Roncesvalles Heritage Walk

How did Roncesvalles Ave. get its name? Who was Constance Ave. named after? And what was daily life like in Parkdale and Roncesvalles in pre-Confederation days? Learn this and more in a walk down Roncesvalles Ave. on Saturday, Sept. 9, starting at 2:30 p.m. The event is free. Led by members of the Sunnyside Historical Society, this stroll through history will feature a combination of skits and short talks focusing mainly on one of this community’s main founding families, the O’Haras. Along the way, you’ll also learn about First Nations in the area, the 1837 rebellion, even the Napoleonic wars. One presentation will consider the architecture. Meet at 2:15 p.m. at the intersection of Dundas St. W. and Roncesvalles Ave., in the Peace Garden in front of Starbucks. The walk ends at Roncesvalles and the Queensway at 4 p.m
