Romance of the Rails

The Model Railroad Club of Toronto presents Romance of the Rails, our first Winter Show.

The Central Ontario Railway, a world in miniature, depicts Canadian railroading in the late 1950’s during the transition from steam to diesel locomotives. It is an “O” Scale (1/4”= 1 ft.) model railroad located in a 103’ by 32’ room with trains traveling over 4,000 feet of track, connecting two major cities, each with full yard and engine facilities. Several smaller towns and villages are located along the way and a branch line will serve a busy port where lake freighters regularly dock. Canadian National and Canadian Pacific trains appear regularly on Central Ontario track.

Although still a work in progress, your visit will be an excellent opportunity to view a large O-Scale model railway under construction since our relocation in 2013. The majority of the trackwork is completed and the scenery is being built. See trains running over the entire mainline and in the yards using our new digital control system. There’s lots to see and all proceeds go into the reconstruction. Great family fun!
