In honor of "Black History Month" and "Valentine's Day," the Carlton Midnight Society will pay homage to the life and legacy of a truly royal individual - the one and only PRINCE!

Artist. Musician. Actor. Filmmaker. Icon. Prince was a man who wore many hats in his time and we feel the best way to truly honor him is to showcase the two films in which all of his talents were put on display for his fans to admire.

Doors open at 9pm where you'll be treated to a reel of classic Prince music videos followed by a Prince Karaoke & Costume Contest.

Then at 9:30pm, the 1984 classic PURPLE RAIN will kick things off. What can be said about PURPLE RAIN that hasn't been said time and again? It was the film that launched Prince into superstardom and it had a soundtrack that is generally regarded as not only Prince's masterpiece, but one of the greatest albums in rock history.

After PURPLE RAIN lets out, we have a little 10-15 minute intermission before launching into a MIDNIGHT screening of Prince's directorial debut -- UNDER THE CHERRY MOON 1986. If there was ever a film begging for the "Midnight Society treatment," this is it. Beautifully shot in black-and-white with a kickass soundtrack featuring KISS among other Prince classics, UNDER THE CHERRY MOON stars Prince who took over directing duties after the original filmmaker backed out. The result is a campy and hilarious comedy that can best be described as a "sexy DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS."

Oh and did we mention there will be plenty of prizes and specialty drinks including a Purple Rain slush and a Blue Raspberry Beret the kind you find at a second-hand store?

It all goes down on Saturday, February 11th, 2017 which coincidentally enough is Midnight Society curator, Matthew Saliba's 35th birthday! So make sure to wish him a Happy Birthday when you see him that evening.
