Theatre-makers are like athletes on 'the field of creation' with an equal need for the consistent training and exercising of their tools - body and mind - to become phenomenal 'play'-ers.
What is it that makes a show highly engaging and compelling?
What has an audience sit on the edge of their seats in anticipation, neglecting wrist watch glancing and thoughts of dinner plans?
Why are sporting events and athletes often more dynamically captivating than theatre and its actors?
One of the greatest misconceptions in theatre training is that actors need to focus on releasing all tension to free themselves to perform. The opposite is actually true. In fact, when an actors body is not engaged the whole drama becomes deflated and uninteresting, but when an actor has a charged physical engagement and brings its pedestrian presence into a different level of intension, then the stage becomes alive and the audience interested and engaged.
This three-day intensive focuses on reconnecting the actor with his body and the body with the theatre space it occupies while developing each individual on-stage presence through awareness and play, with the final goal of enhancing performance quality and connecting with the audience. Once experienced, this emotional and expressive journey becomes a permanent point of reference for actors of any theater style.
WHO IS PAOLA COLETTO?
As a graduate of the cole Internationale de Thtre Jacques Lecoq in Paris, she studied a physical approach to theatre creation and is one of 40 students in the schools 50-year history to have been certified as a pedagogical specialist under Lecoqs direction.

You will never meet anyone more present to teach the art of being present. Paola is a guru of comedy and theater. She finds a depth in the work I didn't even know existed. Working with her feels like taking a submarine into comedy when I had just been floating on the surface the whole time. If she charged a million dollars it wouldn't be enough. I am completely changed by her, both as an artist and a person.

WHO IS MARC FROST?
Marc Frost is an actor, deviser, educator and native Chicagoan. He has performed and produced work in Brazil, Ireland, Spain, the U.S.A. and the U.K. His company Theater Unspeakable has created and performed several original works touring to Lincoln Center Education, Chicago Humanities Festival and the International Performing Arts for Youth conference, among other venues. He has taught workshops in Lecoq, Viewpoints and Clown in Brazil, the U.S.A. and the U.K. As an adjunct professor, he has taught courses at DePaul University, the University of Iowa and currently at Columbia College. He also teaches at The School for Theatre Creators with Paola Coletto. Marc graduated with his M.F.A. in Lecoq Based Actor Created Theater from Naropa University in cooperation with the London International School of Performing Arts LISPA.
