EVENT DESCRIPTION

The fall season of AGO First Thursdays continues with a supersized event celebrating the 10th anniversary of Scotiabank Nuit Blanche. First Thursday visitors will be the first to get a glimpse into the all-night art event with previews of artist projects, special talks and performances filling the galleries.

The night kicks off with a feature conversation between internationally acclaimed artist JR and renowned music producer Sol Guy in Baillie Court. Famously elusive, Paris-based JR will be installing a series of his photo-based works in and around City Hall for Nuit Blanche. Following the talk, First Thursday visitors can check out one of his politically-charged video works 28 Millimeters, Portrait of a Generation in Gallery. Please note: capacity to this talk is limited and visitors will be admitted on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Walker Court will be filled wall-to-wall with beats, with music by Toronto rap troubadour k-os, hot on the heels of the release of his new album 'Cant Fly Without Gravity'. Joining k-os in Walker Court for a DJ set of his own is hip-hop star Rollie Pemberton formerly Cadence Weapon. DJ General Eclectic will light up Galleria Italia.

Visitors touring the galleries will have a chance to preview numerous works including the video installation 'Each Portion' by AGO Artist-in-Residence Lisa Myers. Toronto artist Christof Migone and Marla Hlady present 'Hit', a multimedia performance that utilizes microphones as percussive instruments and presenting a working model for his highly anticipated sculpture of a barn owl made out of LEGO is Toronto artist Ekow Nimako.

Additional programming includes pop-up talks by some of the artists whose work is featured, and our monthly Out of the Vaults exhibition. As always you can also expect delicious themed food and drinks in our Night Market. Advance ticket purchase is strongly recommended as First Thursdays consistently sell out and tickets are not held back for at-the-door sales.
