Navajo Star Wars

The first-ever major motion picture to be dubbed into the Navajo language—a joint venture between the Navajo Nation Museum, Lucasfilm Ltd., 20th Century Fox and Deluxe—makes its Canadian debut at TIFF Bell Lightbox with this special free screening. Transformed by the Navajo language, A New Hope gains new resonance in its original nods to Indigenous culture (“The Force”) and story of resistance to a colonial power. As the loss of Indigenous languages continues to be a major cultural concern, Navajo Star Wars reminds us of their vibrancy and relevance.

This event is free! Reserve tickets in advance at the Steve & Rashmi Gupta Box Office or by phone at 416-599-TIFF. Two tickets per person.
