MDFF and The Seventh Art launch new screening series at CAMERA: Toronto Premiere of Amiel Courtin-Wilson's HAIL.

Local production company MDFF and independent video magazine The Seventh Art announce their partnership on a monthly screening series at Torontos CAMERA. The series builds on MDFF's run of successful screenings at multi-use arts space Double Double Land and will start on April 16th with the Toronto Premiere of HAIL. Australian filmmaker Amiel Courtin-Wilson will be in attendance.

Both epic love story and autobiography, the audacious HAIL is the culmination of six years of collaboration between director Amiel Courtin-Wilson and Daniel P. Jones, a 50-year-old former prisoner with a poets vision of the world. Released from prison, the fierce-yet-vulnerable Danny is reunited with his lover Leanne played by Jones' real-life partner Leanne Letch, with whom he shares an intense and haunting love. But despite his best intentions, Danny remains profoundly troubled by the spectre of alcohol and past violence witnessed, and it isn't long before his fragile domestic existence is torn asunder. The film premiered in 2011 at the 68th Venice International Film Festival as part of the Orizzonti section.

Located within Stephen Bulger Gallery on Queen Street W., CAMERA is a fully licensed venue, featuring stadium seating, a 50-person capacity, and is wheelchair accessible.
