TORONTO – Toronto band THE WANTED gear up for a hoedown at the intimate setting of the historic Campbell House Museum in downtown Toronto. As part of the Listening Party Series, the band will feature a compelling mix of early and contemporary country music. The event takes place on Sunday, March 22 with doors open at 7 pm and music starting at 7:30 pm. For more information visit https://myspace.com/thewantedlive

The Wanted is an acoustic ensemble fusing early North American folk music (in the style of the Carter family and jug bands of the ‘20s and ‘30s), blues, bluegrass, rockabilly and rock ‘n roll to create an eclectic musical style that is at once a distinctive and recognizable re-interpretation of roots music.

The song writing is shared amongst the band members which includes Richard Henderson (lap steel guitar), Dave Lang (bass), Rico Stern (cajon), Jeff Rogers (guitar/vocals) and Natalie Rogers (guitar/vocals/washboard), and this lends an additional layer of originality to their performances.

With tasty originals and brilliant covers of songs like Bill Monroe’s “Walls of Time” to Nancy Sinatra’s “These Boots Are Made For Walkin’,” the group combines traditional instrumentation of guitar, upright bass, mandolin and percussion with unique elements such as the Irish bodhran and acoustic lap steel guitar. Blending their voices in intricate harmonies, The Wanted creates a sound that is transformational – “Emmylou Harris” meets unplugged vintage rock ‘n roll performed to a driving Celtic drum!

The Wanted has performed numerous shows at the Gladstone Hotel, has headlined at Hugh’s Room and has served residencies at both the Cameron House and the Tranzac Club in Toronto. The group also performs regularly at popular country fairs and private gigs in southern Ontario.

Campbell House is located at the north-west corner of University and Queen, and, built in 1822, is the oldest remaining house from the original site of the Town of York. The museum is a vibrant public space where members of Toronto’s diverse communities gather to discuss, to create, to perform and to socialize, giving life to the words “freedom of expression”. The Listening Party returns for its fourth season on Sunday evenings in March, where you can have a drink by the fire and enjoy an intimate evening of music in an elegant Georgian home.
