Live at Massey Hall: Great Lake Swimmers and The Rural Alberta Advantage

Over the past 10 years, Great Lake Swimmers have gone from word-of-mouth folk-rock favourites to critical darlings of CBC, NPR and musical giant Robert Plant with songs that are self-assured and multi-layered. These days, the band—which has a sixth album due out next year—is happily showcasing new material for eager fans.

Formed in Toronto but forged by homesickness and heartbreak, the trio The Rural Alberta Advantage has been building hype since 2008. Fresh from the studio, the band will be previewing material from its forthcoming third releaser. Fans of “Frank, AB” and the JUNO-nominated “Stamp” can expect more lustrous, percussive folk songs.
