I'm thrilled to be performing in the 2014 TD Toronto Jazz Festival at one of my favourite venues... Lula Lounge!

I'll be joined by two of Canada's finest jazz musicians- guitarist TED QUINLAN and bassist JIM VIVIAN in a set featuring music from my newly released sophomore album "Whose Shadow?" launched March 30, 2014, gems from The Great American Songbook, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Dianne Reeves, Karen Young, Ralph Towner and more!

Honoured as assuredly one of the finest jazz singers to emerge on the Canadian scene recently, LARA SOLNICKI has been praised for the purity of her voice, her understanding of the most subtle nuances in lyrics and melody, and the freshness, intelligence and wit she invests in every interpretation-Stanley Pan, Host, Quand le jazz est l, Espace Musique, for her ample and voluptuous timbre, -Frdric Cardin, Producer, Radio Canada and her stylish and sensual interpretations of The Great American Songbook -Mark Rheaume, CBC.

A classically trained singer with a four octave range, Lara originally intended a career in opera. She received a BA from The Glenn Gould School/ Royal Conservatory of Music where she was the recipient of numerous scholarships, studying voice and piano in the Performance Diploma and Artist Diploma programs.

Since 2008, she has immersed herself in jazz and creative music. Her critically acclaimed debut CD, A Meadow in December 2010, called an unusually compelling debut -Stuart Broomer, The WholeNote, continues to receive generous airplay on radio stations across Canada including the CBC, Jazz FM.91 and Radio Canada.

Her much anticipated sophomore CD, Whose Shadow? was launched March 30, 2014 to a full house at Torontos Jazz Bistro. An eclectic contemporary jazz project, it is produced by multi-instrumentalist and producer George Koller Holly Cole, Loreena McKennitt, Bruce Cockburn, and features Laras compositions, jazz arrangements of classical music, art pop, traditional jazz... and more.

A published poet, Lara launched her first book of poems and experimental prose in fall 2006, Disassembled Stars Lyrical Myrical Press. Her poetry has since appeared in international and national anthologies and magazines. She is fluent in French. www.larasolnicki.com

TED QUINLAN is respected as one of Canadas most multi-faceted jazz musicians, highly skilled as a solo jazz guitarist, session player, writer, and dedicated educator. He is a sought-after sideman, frequently appearing with the whos who of Canadian jazz artists on concert stages, in clubs, and in jazz festivals from coast-to-coast. Throughout his abiding career, he has performed with some of the biggest international jazz stars including Freddie Baker, Chet Baker, Eddie Harris, Jimmy Smith, and Joey DeFrancesco. His recording credits are numerous, highlighted by performances on Doug Rileys recording Con Alma and as one of six major Canadian jazz guitarists featured on Radioland Records compilation CD 'A Tribute to Wes Montgomery.'

A dedicated jazz educator, Ted Quinlan is the long-time head of the Guitar Humber at Humber College, one of North America s most respected Jazz Studies institutions.

In 2009, Ted released a trio recording, "Streetscape." The album features Kieran Overs bass and Ted Warren drums. Awards:

JIM VIVIAN has been at the forefront of music making in Canada for over 25 years, with more than 25 recordings nominated for a Juno. Collaborators include national artists Mike Murley, Don Thompson and Steve Amirault, international artists including Kenny Wheeler, Norma Winstone and Dave Leibman.

Originally from Newfoundland, Jim moved from St. John's to Toronto in 1979 to pursue classical bass studies, and during the early 1980's began focusing more on jazz and improvised music.

An experienced teacher, Jim is presently on faculty at the University of Toronto, York University, and the Humber College Community School.
