On Saturday, May 30th, Mira Godard Gallery is pleased to open an exhibition of new sculptures and etchings by JOE FAFARD.

JOE FAFARD was born in 1942, in Sainte-Marthe, Saskatchewan. He attended the University of Manitoba, Winnipeg (B.F.A. 1966); Pennsylvania State University, State College (M.F.A. 1968); and was an instructor in sculpture at the University of Saskatchewan, Regina, from 1968 to 1974. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Order of Canada in 1981, the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada Award in 1987, the Saskatchewan Order of Merit in 2002 and le Prix Montfort in 2003.

Fafard's work is in numerous international public, corporate and private collections including Art Gallery of Hamilton, Art Gallery of Ontario, Edmonton Art Gallery, Montreal Museum of Fine Art, National Gallery of Canada, Vancouver Art Gallery, and Winnipeg Art Gallery.

"Joe Fafard" a retrospective organized by the National Gallery of Canada and the Mackenzie Art Gallery, Regina, toured nationally from 2007 to 2009. Three of Fafard's works were featured on stamps by Canada Post in 2012.

JOE FAFARD lives and works in Lumsden and Pense, Saskatchewan.
