SITE-SPECIFIC INSTALLATION AND PERFORMANCE ART BY ELAINE LUM, JULIE RIEMERSMA, ELISSA SZE, TANYA WORKMAN AND ANNALISE W, WITH REBECCA JANE HOUSTON. PERFORMANCES THROUGHOUT EVENING.

Please join us to celebrate the culmination of our exploration of this strange site, part sales centre, part patient room, part gallery. The small building used by Workman Arts for its “Pop-Up” gallery was built to show samples of in-patient treatment rooms to medical practitioners and potential patients. This unsettling mix of unfinished hospital and show-room sales centre became the site of our 6-week course on site-specific art.

In/Impatient is an exploration of the Patient Space experienced by hospitalized mentally-ill Patients. It transforms the way stigma is used to classify this group of people for quick and standardized health care treatment.

As the artists who have been in this current health care model, we have taken the space again, and returned it through transformation to a stigma-less place, each of us claiming individual identity in the real world.

Impatient/ Inpatient:

Changing is hard. The battle for control over your own mind is not easily won. Welcome to your mind’s life-long inpatient program, where we know you better than you know yourself.

"Inpatient/Impatient" explores the evolving attitude of patient care in mental health.
