GOETHE FILMS: "Age of Cannibals"

GOETHE FILMS @ TIFF Bell Lightbox - May 5 + 7 + 12

Our 3-part series examines the global economy in overdrive, the lure of profit and the social impact of corporate appropriation.

"Age of Cannibals" (Germany, 2014, 93 min.), directed by Johannes Naber, with Sebastian Blomberg (“The Baader Meinhof Complex”), Devid Striesow ( “Downfall”) and Katharina Schüttler (“Free Fall”; “Oh Boy”), with English subtitles.

For the past six years, the two successful business consultants Öllers and Niederländer have travelled to some of the seediest countries in the world in order to satisfy their clients’ greed. They have achieved almost everything but there is one career move left: to become partner in the company. “Up or out” is the motto. When they learn that their colleague Hellinger has made the move their mood turns. After Hellinger falls from an office window - cause unclear - he is suceeded by the young and ambitious Bianca, who doesn't help the situation. Öllers and Niederländer are irritated. The fight for survival takes its toll – the Age of Cannibals dawns.

Tickets $10, day-of sales only at the TIFF Bell Lightbox, open at 10am, in person or by phone 1-888-599-8433
