Audrey Assad was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario. She graduated from the Bachelor of Fine Arts Honours program at Queens University in 2013. During her time at Queens University, Audrey focused on oil painting, investigating her lifelong struggles with weight, body imaginaries and the daily burdens they hold. In dealing with the daily routine and constant thought of this issue, Audrey uses pattern and repetition in her work. In her most recent work Audrey explores the overweight female figure in watercolour and drawing through repetition and collage. Audrey currently practices in Toronto.
