FIDDLES AT THE FORT!

Fort York welcomes World Fiddle Day on Saturday May 21, 2016. Join us from 10 a.m. 5:30 p.m. as players of bowed string instruments from different traditions teach workshops and perform a concert, leading up to our community "Around-the-World Jam" at 2:30.

Workshops/concert this year feature Dan MacDonald Cape Breton Fiddle, Mark Marcyk of Lemon Bucket Orchestra Hutsul Fiddling from Ukraine, Rosalyn Dennett Appalachian Fiddle, and Yosvai Castaneda Latin Violin. Then, join or listen as violin, viola, cello and upright bass players of all levels play their way through 35 tunes from 25 countries led by Anne Lederman and an ensemble of star players.

MP3s, sheet music for the jam, and our calendar for community practise sessions are posted at: http://worldfiddledaytoronto.ca Free community rehearsal May 15 at Long & McQuade clinic space, 935 Bloor St. West. Come join us!
