Doors 8pm Small World Music Centre

Join us at the Small World Music Centre for a funky evening of Brazilian tropicalia as we celebrate our new space and launch the 13th Annual Small World Festival! Opened at the start of 2014, Small Worlds very own venue is a miniature concert hall, outfitted with the finest audio, lighting and video gear and a flexible seating. And were keen to show it off!

Os Tropies were brought together by Brazilian popular music from the 60's and 70's, writing new original tunes inspired by Tropicalia greats such as Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil, Gal Costa, Os Mutantes and Os Novos Baianos, among others. Drawing on virtually all the iconic sounds of the 1960s and 70spsychedelic rock, soul, Beatles-esque pop songs, fragile folk tunes rich with vocal harmonies, and avant-garde, out-there-ness the band has been winning fans for the past two years in Toronto. Band member Amy Medvick says. tropicalia being a Brazilian cultural movement, we have all the sounds of Brazilian music to draw upon: samba, bossa nova, forr, and baio grooves to name a few, rich in percussion and the distinctive rhythm and cadence of Brazilian Portuguese.
