Yuasa's music shapes time through a dramatic interplay between soloist and orchestra. Scime's stereophonic division of the orchestra moves sound around in great shimmering waves, while Schmidt musically chronicles where his mind, body, and spirit have been as he has travelled and lived in different locations. Dutilleux, alluding to timeless images and distant events, affirms a unity of time and place.
