Emily Filler Feature at Muse Gallery

Emily Filler was born in Ottawa, Ontario in 1982. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts Honours from Queen's University in 2005. She started to draw and paint at an early age and was greatly influenced as a child by her frequent visits to her father's gallery in Ottawa.

"While my earlier works weave abstract florals through dreamlike landscapes, this new body of work uses the shape of the bouquet as a starting point. Working within this structure I find a boundlessness and freedom to experiment with a diverse assemblage of colours, patterns, textures, and mark making. In this collection you will find vibrant and spirited works juxtaposed with moody and layered pieces, and ghostly monochrome electrified by colourful accents - still life dissolving into abstraction. As with all of my work, I do not wish to present the viewer with a realistic interpretation of the flower but rather convey the impressions which they leave behind in our memories."

Gallery hours: Tues. - Sat. 11- 6, Sun - 12 - 4.
