Bob Dylan 15th annual birthday tribute at C'est What

"Nearly every musician who has picked up an acoustic guitar and aspired to write songs, since 1963, has been influenced, in some way by Bob Dylan." - Daniel Durchholz & Gary Graff

Toronto's annual Bob Dylan birthday celebration returns to C'est What (67 Front St. East). The Dylan tribute is now in its 15th year as Bob Dylan turns 74 on the same date. Bob Dylan has a music career spanning five decades and influencing modern folk, rock, gospel genres worldwide. This year independent local artists Michelle Rumball, MJ Cyr, and duos Sue and Dwight, and NorthStar will share the stage at C'est What with their interpretations of Dylan's songs.

Sue and Dwight

Without pretension, they share their songs and stories while creating a warm atmosphere at their live shows. Rich harmonies are front and centre in their musical arrangements, supported by laid-back guitars, piano, and accordion.

Michelle Rumball

The crucial thing to know about Michelle Rumball is that she’s a truly great singer. With a voice that’s sometimes whispery and wavering, sometimes plangent and clear, but always poignant and evocative, Rumball sings from deep wellsprings of emotion, in a way that can’t help but resonate strongly with listeners. As NOW’s Kate Pederson wrote, “I’d pay to hear her sing the phone book.”

NorthStar

Their chemistry and harmony style is in the tradition of classic duets such as Johnny Cash/June Carter, Otis Redding/Carla Thomas, Dolly Parton/Kenny Rogers, Marvin Gaye/Tammi Terrell and Gram Parsons/Emmylou Harris.

MJ Cyr

MJ grew up in rural New Brunswick where she, with the help of her household constantly filled with music, found her love of the arts and its expression. Years of crafting a passion for molding stories into songs have culminated into MJ Cyr playing to audiences in Toronto.
