Adrian Williams: The Travels of Sir

In his latest exhibition, The Travels of Sir, Adrian Williams rejects our ostensibly pragmatic digital age, in which old books become either fetish objects for collectors or are sold in bulk to be decomposed into raw material. Each old book Williams collects has a purpose its margins, composition and language all practical parts, which together are valued as a conceptual whole.

The Canadian artist poetically displays folklore artifacts, historical objects and other vintage print materials to create surreal narratives of numerous characters each caught in conspicuous predicaments which convey the eternal tension between our morose and humorous reality.
