A Literary Evening at The Supermarket

Join us on Wednesday, June 25 for an evening of readings by Teri Vlassopoulos, Alexandra Leggat, Jessica Hiemstra, and Gillian Sze.

There will be a little poetry, a little prose - a lot of words!

About the readers:

TERI VLASSOPOULOS writes and lives in Toronto. Her first book, Bats or Swallows, was published by Invisible Publishing and shortlisted for both the Danuta Gleed Award for best first collection of short fiction and the ReLit award. She is currently a columnist for Bookslut.com and has published essays on The Toast and the Rumpus.

ALEXANDRA LEGGAT is the author of the Trillium Award-nominated Animal. Her other short story collections include Meet Me in the Parking Lot and Pull Gently, Tear Here and her poetry collection is called This is me since yesterday. She teaches creative writing at the University of Toronto School of Continuing Studies. Her novel The Incomparables will be out this summer.

JESSICA HIEMSTRA is a visual artist and writer. Her poems have appeared in several Canadian journals including The Antigonish Review, Carousel, Grain, The Malahat Review, Prairie Fire and sub-Terrain. Shes published a couple of chapbooks as well as full-length collections such as Self Portrait without a Bicycle Biblioasis 2012. More recently, she co-edited the literary anthology, How to Expect What You're Not Expecting TouchWood Editions 2013.

GILLIAN SZE is the author of three books of poetry and three chapbooks. She is currently a doctoral candidate at the University of Montral. Her work has appeared in a number of national and international journals, and has received awards such as the University of Winnipeg Writers Circle Prize and the 2011 3Macs carte blanche Prize. Her latest book, Peeling Rambutan, was published this spring by Gaspereau Press.
