The 17th Toronto Chinatown Festival

The Toronto Chinatown Festival has came a long way since its first opening in 2000. Each year the Festival continues to grow to ensure that the celebration surpasses the success of its predecessors. In 2016, the Toronto Chinatown Festival attracted about 200,000 visitors during this 2-days event. Our theme for 2017 is “Meeting across The Milky Way;” it’s a folktale about Chinese Valentine’s day that officially dated on July 7th each year on lunar calendar, representing love and loyalty between lovers and the supporting surrounding. Traditionally, Chinese also celebrate this day by practicing handicraft. The Festival will host related engaging performances alongside vendors and interactive activities that will both showcase Canada’s cultural and communal diversity, while helping to improve local tourism and economy.
