Hot Chocolate Picks for Winter Weather

20070128_hotchocolate.jpg
Whether you are catching a show at WinterCity or going for a skate on one of the city's ice rinks - there is nothing better than braving the cold than with a steaming cup of hot chocolate.

I tend to like mine with lots of whipped cream and a light chocolate flavour - but am definitely no snob to the various types you can get in town. Many packed with a bittersweet punch, others than offer a twist from the ordinary...be advised, these are not watered-down instant bevie types.

My Top Picks:
- Luna Cafe for the fair trade kind.
- Chocolate Chai (milk chocolate infused with cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, clove and Darjeeling tea) from js bonbons.
- Hollywood Gelato's delicious Valhrona hot chocolate is top-of-the-line.
- Dark cocoa at Sen5es.
- Hot Chocolate as a visual art form at Bulldog Coffee.

PS. Let me know your hot chocolate spot.

While I don't get out to have it very often, the hot chocolate at B Espresso is wonderful.

Great, I just got to work and now I have to figure out a way to get some hot cocoa. Mmmmmmm....forbidden co-coa.
Thanks for the lustful-craving: - )

soma has something that is not strictly hot chocolate, it's a shot of esspresso, divine melted chocolate and steamed milk. it's to die for. but unbelieveably rich. but amazing!

I'm a hot chocolate fiend. I don't drink coffee, so it is my hot beverage of choice when out "for coffee". My experience in this city so far has yielded one place above all others for hot chocolate, and that is Sugar Cafe on Queen, west of Shaw. Decadent and smooth, it literally drips down the throat in chocolately goodness. Enjoy!
