Lettuce Eatery, winner of our recent Best of Indie Toronto poll for Best Salad, has just opened up a new location in the Fashion District. And what an opening it was! The day before the launch, they handed out their signature plastic bowls - empty - and invited recipients to come back the next day for a free fill up.

Sure enough, there was a line-up that hasn't been seen in the area since Don Cherry was signing autographs during the hockey strike at the Quiznos next door.

Lettuce Eatery, 140 Spadina Avenue (on Richmond). 416-203-8456.

lettuce eatery is a great addition to the ever-eatery expanding corner of richmond and spadina.

try the cobb salad. when it's thrown into a wrap, it is MASSIVE and delicious. we have a serious lack of great cobb salads in this city. good to know that i have a go-to now.

btw: my bf was given a free bowl for their launch, but forgot it at a bank machine... when he went back to retrieve a few minutes later, it was gone. hopefully, finder keepers took advantage of a delicious free lunch.

just wanted to say that they've switched from using metal bowls to using disposable plastic bags to toss their salads! how does that make any sense?

also, don't try their soup't items -- they are awful.

The mediterranean salad I ordered fulfilled the name of the resturant... Lettuce eatery... cause thats literally all I tasted in the salad... For $9.00 you can bet I was pissed...
