Shoppe Clover
Shoppe Clover is a popular vintage furniture Instagram business turned Toronto storefront, owned by Larisa Mancini and Trevon Pfeiffer.
Mancini and Pfeiffer are not only a couple, but a dynamic team. They met as students in the Creative Advertising program at Humber College.
Between his background in logistics and design build, and her experience in marketing, home decor, and social media, they turned their mutual good taste into a successful business venture.
They started the Instagram page during the pandemic when they moved into their first apartment together and began furnishing their new home with second hand furniture.
"We just continued to find such great pieces that we obviously didn't have the need for in our own home," Mancini said.
Instead of walking away from their finds like most people would, they decided to refurbish and sell them, and created a brand and Instagram page to advertise their efforts.
"The response was out of this world, really well received," said Mancini. So much so that Shoppe Clover furnished the homes of local influencers like Mei Pang, Kevin Kodra and Elena Lohse.
They even collaborated with designer Autumn Hachey to furnish a vintage inspired hotel in Stratford.
Originally Shoppe Clover occupied a unit in a shared building with other business owners where the couple would stage the furniture for photos.
The space wasn't particularly conducive to in person visits. So once they'd built a substantial following, their next goal was to open a retail space, if only they could find something affordable.
Fortunately the beautiful corner unit that Shoppe Clover now resides in was originally listed as a one bedroom, one bathroom residential unit, even though it was clearly a commercial space.
A complement to the name of their business, the couple felt very lucky that the unit had been overlooked because of the way it was listed.
The location feels particularly special to the couple who grew up north and south of the Junction neighborhood respectively, and remember spending time there fondly.
Now they have doors that open right onto their old stomping grounds, but they welcome customers in by appointment, or by specified hours posted to their Instagram.
While you can shop for curated furniture items in stores, where they are thoughtfully arranged in vignettes, all available pieces are posted to Instagram. As such, in store appointments are accepted by the DM.
As for the theme of the Shoppe Clover collection, Mancini and Pfeiffer favor a timeless aesthetic.
For them this means contemporary and modern pieces mixed with an antique style including refined mid century and European designer furniture from the 70s and 80s.
In particular, they're known for their marble pieces which can range anywhere from $1000-$3000 in price depending on condition and rarity. Comparatively, something like a dining chair can range between $50 and $350.
If you fall in love with a Shoppe Clover piece, the couple will likely deliver it to your home personally, in Pfeiffer's cherished 1983 Chevrolet C10 no less. A testament to his love for vintage.
Once in your home, they are happy to provide a design consultation to help you tastefully situate your new purchase in your space.
"Every single piece in our shop, we like to view as if it's an extension of our own apartment. If we could fit ten coffee tables in our own house, these are the ones we would pick," said Mancini. In the future they hope to offer a custom line of furniture as well.
