Sorauren Park Pumpkin Parade

The pumpkin death parade carries on at Sorauren Park

This year's edition of the Sorauren Park Pumpkin Parade came in defiance of the rain and mud, as the community once again gathered to give their jack-o-lanterns another chance to glow and delight passers-by. A few less in number than other years, but with the weather, and with competing parades popping up around the city, it was to be expected. Still, at least 500-700 pumpkins were on display by 8pm, impressive by any account.

Back in late September, it almost seemed as though the Parade would be cancelled due to some red tape being thrown up by municipal employees trying to economize resources — but this was quickly resolved by cooler heads on Council and the Parade was allowed to continue.
